Again it was a long time from my last post... probably because again I
had hardly any time for life. During last days I took a closer look at
Microsoft Excel Interop. Funny thing... you can find there IDummy
interface :) funny name... however it turnes out that this is a part of
debugging code facilities of excel.
Anywayzzz funny naming convention :)

Finally I got my laptop back :)
As we talk - me write - about the laptops I must confess that there is an idea going arround my mind for some time alreadu :) I had this idea to have an inteligent picture frame :) and as I was looking for a propper hardware I came across to this page http://www.grynx.com/index.php/projects/laptop-on-the-wall-walltop/ This crazy guy did what I was thinking about :) Nice isnt it :) imagine a frame that is cappable of displaying moving pics like in HP......

...and who said that you got to buy is for a cheap of money, DIY and GO :)

Today I had a little work do to. Some friend of mine bought DSL and he wanted me to install a firewall and do some security tuneup. Nothing unusual. Because he has a son I told him that I'll create an account (WinXP) for him and another for his son. Offcourse his with password and full priviledges and sons account a little bit restricted. Nothing fancy. Just to keep a little one from installing everything he'll find. So I did as I told. We all 3 were sitting in front of the PC. I was doing some admin stuff. At one point, the son asked his father: "What is your password" and guess what... father told him the password. :/ I was totally flushed :(

Another great piece of software went free. There is this great visual widgets system called Konfabulator. I used it for some time, but unfortunetly it was a trial that after expiration was nagging all the time about the registration. Few days ago I checked the site again and.... now its free :)

Few days ago my beloved laptop which traveled with me to Finland, Norway and Russia had to go to the service... :( and now I feel like without a hand. :( Really ammazoning how I will live without it. Hopefully I'll get it ASAP

Visual studio 2005 + VSS

Again little TIP that might be handy for someone.

Some time ago I started using Visual Studio 2005, however we use Visual Source Safe in the company so the wise thing would be to connect to VSS from VS2K5. When you lunach it there is no possibility to connect to VSS. How sad. But there is a catch. F*** VSS for the begining and just go to options. In there you can find Source Control and this is the point where you can switch back to VSS. How sad that it's not in more handy place. But luckilly there is still possibility to get the cheeries of VS2005 and benefits of good old VSS (after all not every person has spare Win 2003 running around)

Word running as service

Some time ago I came accross with this strange problem. I had to develop a system service that was using Microsoft Word and it's printing capabilities. So one obvious thing is to use Word PIA and just create Word object and use printOut method of the document. How simple. Strange thing happens when you create the object, run printout and quit Word. What does word in the real word, doesn't with the PIA. Although the printer starts to get data, but it stops ASAP. After some reaserch it turned out that the object Word must exist unill document is actually spited out by the printer. So as practise shows, Word object should be global and then can be used when needed by the service. Otherwise you won't get any message, any exception and any printout.

Again I had a long time being off blog. And again that was because many things were happening. I dont even know where to start.
First of all I got rid of my laptop. The one that went with me to Finland, Norway and Russia. The one that was my buddy for a long time. Its time has came, it had to go to the doctor (service). Next, I started studies again. This time Im taking Masters course. And I think most interesting, I started a new job. Pretty good I must say. On tuesday I will have my big day. Product that I was developing for the last month will be introduced to Microsoft. This will be pre release show. Later hopefully I will be launched nationwide during Microsoft Be First with SQL2005 days. So keep your thumbs, so it can go well.

Its not a secret that latelly Im runnig low on time so I must cut most of my favourite activites. Bloggin also had to be reduced.
In the begining I was writting in polish and englis languages ( parts marked as [PL] and [EN] ) however due to lack of time I choose to keep it in English only at least for some time, after all most of the readers are from USA, England and Germany so I guess it won't do you a big difference ;)

Last sunday we had a national elections in Poland. I'm very supprised about the ammount of people that were voting. It's a dissaster :( just few above 40%. Shame, shame...

today we know the official results and I must say, strange thing has happened. Since months economy was prefering PO ( two most acticve parties these days are PO and PiS) as more pro-economy. For the most time of pre-election days PO was in the lead. Maybe this was one of the reasons why the stock market was going north before the elections (usully major stock indexes head south before the elections). What's more the blue chips index (WIG20) set new record, and all that before the elections.

But later on, it turned out that PiS has won the national pool, (and PiS isn't that much about economy as PO) and what has happened on the stock market? Well instead of expected heavy discount it keeps the level.

:)

And who said that stock market is something boring ?

I forgot to blog this :) few weeks ago I was back on telly :) The first time was back in the 80s when I was on a summer camp. The national television came to us to show how kids spend free time :) And few weeks ago again I managed to get on the silver screen :) while I was doing some salsa on one of the salsa parties. They where making an interview about salsa as an alternative way of spending time :)
Isnt this great ?? 2x time and 2x time while doing leasure activities :)

And now back to cleaning computer stuff.

WiMAX in da house

It's been quite noisy about WiMAX latelly. I was about to blog about this long time ago but as usually time wasn't on my side, but to the point. I read a news today that Alcatel will host first WiMAX network in Austria - congratualtion. About one or two months ago this technology (WiMAX) was introduced to my local market. To be more precise. I live on the south of Poland in the city of "Bielsko-Biala". The mayor ISP in Poland is our
"beloved" TPSA (dont ask poles about this telecom - it might be risky :) Their prices are out of this planet. Because of this there are many private ISPs that try to give at least better price. One of them SferaNet that is actually placed in my home town, launched WiMAX as extension of they current offer (WiFi).

There is funny thing about all this Wi.... technologies. Around a year of two ago I read great text about WiFi in Europe. Poland wasnt to WiFized - only few public hot spots in 2-3 cities, one or two airports and thats it. Almost any county in Europe thas more WiFized than we were. But what with reality ?? In the real life.... if you took WiFi detector you could find hundreds of networks around. Why? As I mentioned earlier our national telecom (TPSA) isn't cheap so many folks did whats next. One of them was getting xDSL and the rest was chipping in for WiFi infrastructure. This way 5-10 houses had internet at reasonable price. Maybe not to fast but always better than nothing. For some, this was a start of small company.
And few were growing bigger and bigger day after....

...ut this is a different storry :)

And again I had no time to writte. But this time the reason was obvious. I simply went offline for few days :) took some chill-out in the mountains. And after all it turned out to be great decision because next thursday I'm starting new job. I'll see how it's going to be, but I hope that it will be goooooood.... they (the company) are testing MS SQL 2005 for more thant a year now - yes I was supprised too. Everything because they cooperate with Microsoft and they get this kind of stuff earlier than others (ITs,
not even mentioning normal people).

No i znowu nie miałem czasu nic napisać. Tym razem jednak powód był oczywisty. Po prostu przeszedłem w tryb offline na pare dni :) trochę odpoczynku w górach :). Z perspektywy czasu okazało się to bardzo dobrą decyzją (djecezją) ponieważ w przyszły czwartek zaczynam pracę w nowej firmie. Zobaczę jak to będzie, ale mam nadzieję że będzie dobrze..... oni (firma) używają MS SQL 2005 od ponad roku - tak też byłem zaskoczony. Wszystko dlatego że blisko współpracują z Microsoftem i dostają takie rzeczy dużo dużo wcześniej niż inny (informatycy, nie wspominając nawet normalnych ludzi)

Buying online

Do you buy online? I think its quite common already. People buy all kind
of stuff online, but today I came to the point that I guess I went to
faaaarrr..... I bought.... shoes and more interesting is that I never had
one of those so I had no idea if the size will fit me. Luck is with me
obviously cos they are OK. Another reflection that came through my brain
cells, appart from food I didn't bought anything in "off-line" shop for a
long time. I think the time has finally came, when I should get out of the
cave - go offline :)

Kupujesz przez internet ? Myślę że jest to już bardzo popularne. Ludzie
kupują różne rzeczy przez internet, ale dzisiaj chyba przeszedłem sam
siebie. Kupiłem buty, co więcej nigdy takich nie miałem więc nie miałem
pojęcia czy rozmiar będzie mi pasował. Szczęście mnie nie opuściło
ponieważ są OK. Jedna myśl która przeszła mi przez głowę, poza jedzeniem,
dawno nie kupiłem nic w normalnym sklepie. Wygląda mi na to że doszedłem
do momentu kiedy należałoby się ruszyć z jaskini - ruszyć od komputera :)

I'll try to catch up my blogging because latelly I had a lot of stuff to
do and blog was one of the last things I had time for. Hopefully in
following days I'll write some more, now just a short breaking news.
You know this little-big country called Japan for sure. Its not a secret
that those crazy Jappanese are much into technology. One of them has tuned
his PC and set new record - that is over 7GHz on Intel Pentium IV
Ammazoning.
I wouldnt be myself if I wouldnt mentioned it :)

W krótce postaram się częściej uaktualniać mój dziennik ponieważ ostatnio
trochę się zaniedbałem, ale mialem trochę rzeczy do zrobienia no i pisanie
bloga było jedną z ostatnich rzeczy na które miałem czas. Mam nadzieję, że
w nadchodzących dniach uda mi się napisać coś więcej, teraz tylko krótka
wiadomość.
Znacie wszyscy ten mały-wielki kraj o nazwie Japonia, na pewno. Nie jest
tajemnicą że ci szaleni Japończycy uwielbiają technologiczne zabawki.
Jeden z nich przetaktował swojego PCta ustanawiając tym samym nowy rekord
świata - ponad 7GHz na procesorze Intel Pentium IV, Niesamowite.
Niebył bym sobą gdybym o tym nie wspomniał :)

I wish this could be in a matter of money, but its not. There is this great project where everyone count keyboard clicks and I just had my 1 000 000 click. Check it out here.

How it works ? Just download a little program (no spyware or malware) that counts the key hits, and from time to time send it to the server. Chciałbym aby to było pod względem pieniędzy, ale tak nie jest. Jest pewien wspaniały projekt gdzie wszyscy zliczają ilość wciśniętych klawiszy klawiatury, ja właśnie nacisnąłem milionowy znak. Sprawdz sam tutaj.

Jak to działa ? Po prostu ściągnij mały program (bez spyware-u lub malwer-u)który zlicza ilość naciśniętych klawiszy i od czasu do czasu wysyła to do serwera. Tam można sprawdzić swój całkowity wynik i statystyki z paru ostatnich dni. Bardziej interesujące... można stworzyć własną drużynę, sprawdzić jak twój kraj sobie radzi w rankingu krajów.

Long time no news, but it's because there some important stuff going arround. Currently I'm trying to roam from one company to another, and I have some projects to finalize and thats thisone will be short.
Every one of us have this one favourite site, they do change in time but still there is always that one particular site that you visite more often that others. For me, currently, it would be "g poi" mistery ? For those that don't use Opera :) this is a search for a word poi at google.com
What is POI ?? In one word FIRE :) every boy (I guess) like playing with fire and Poi is simply collage of fire and dance.
What do we need for that ?
Chain with something comfortable to hold it on one side and fire blazing material on the other...
What we can do with it ?? well ask mr. Google

Trochę czasu minęło od ostatniej wiadomości a to dlatego, że dzieje się trochę rzeczy w moim życiu. Aktualnie staram się zmienić pracę a dodatkowo mam pare projektów do dokończenia i dlatego dzisiaj będzie krótko.
Każdy z nas ma swoją ulubioną stronę, wprawdzie zmieniają się one z czasem, to jednak zawsze jest jakaś strona na którą aktualnie wchodzimy częściej niż na inne. Dla mnie, aktualnie taką stroną jest "g poi", zagadka ? Dla tych którzy nie używają Opery - to jest zapytanie o słowo POI wyszukiwarki google.com
Co to Jest POI ? Jednym słowem OGIEŃ :) Każdy chłopiec (chyba) lubi bawić się ogniem a POI to po prostu mariaż ognia i tańca.
Co jest potrzebne ?
Łańcuch z wygodnym uchwytem z jednej strony, a z drugiej strony zakończony buchającym ogniem materiałem.
Co z tym można dalej zrobić ?? zapytaj mr. Google.
